Safety
Safety is paramount in being able to provide an entertaining show, especially when fire is involved.
The skills I perform do look dangerous and are potentially highly dangerous. I have trained at great length to achieve a level of skill that enables me to do these things safely in public.
I am a full member of Equity which gives £10 Million Public Liability Insurance.
I have specific Fire Performers Public Liability Insurance to £2 Million which is the industry standard.
I am First Aid Trained to the level of Appointed Person.
I have standard risk assessments for the skills I use and carry out a risk assessment for each venue I perform at. I provide all the necessary additional safety equipment including fire extinguisher and fire blankets.
Depending on the event, I may need someone as a fire warden to assist me in the case of accident. This has never been necessary in practice but I believe it is better to be safe than burned.
In relation to working with children in schools and at community events, I have a full enhanced CRB Disclosure.
